The phrase Iron from Ice is a play on other similar phrases – forged in fire, iron sharpens iron and so forth.

The concept is simple – put yourself in a place of adversity to build mental toughness. Place yourself in the harshness and physical discomfort of ice to become iron. In this workout we’re putting you into a place of discomfort by mixing cardio with weighted movements coupled with little to no rest to keep you feeling uneasy.

If you aren’t struggling with breathing – go faster. Or heavier. Or both.

Darkened Lights are our workout modifiers for those seeking out additional adversity. The lights whom help us find the way are now dimmed, prepare for more intense mental and physical struggle.

Ideally on a Curve. If there is only conventional treadmills available increase to 300m

KETTLEBELL DEADLIFT x 15

As heavy as possible with form staying in tact using 2 x Kettlebells.

KETTLEBELL SWING x 15

Using one of the kettlebells from your deadlift to keep transition times to a minimum

ALTERNATING PRESS UPS – 7 E/A

Transition from plank into press up position, press up, then back to plank for 1 rep. Complete all reps on one side before transition.

SIT UPS WITH WEIGHT X 10 EACH SIDE

Keep the arm locked out and as straight as possible – straight up at 90 degrees when lying down.

IRON CROSS X 45 secs

Hold weights with arms locked out in crucifix position with dumbbells vertical facing for added fun.

BATTLE ROPES X 45 secs

15 seconds oscillating / 15 seconds shorter oscillations / 15 seconds slams. 

Reload and go again.
